Sit down, put your feet up and read on …

Touch Rugby

Touch rugby is a fast, fun, social sport that can be played by boys and girls from year 0-6. School years are combined to make 3 grades (a year 0-1-2 grade, year 3-4 grade and year 5-6 grade). The ability to enter teams depends on there being enough in each age group registered AND there being a volunteer to coach each team.

The season will begin on Monday 13th October (Week 1, Term 4). It will conclude on Monday 8th December (or Monday 15th December if needed). This season is shorter than previous seasons due to ground availability and the fact we more often than not we lose the first few weeks due to the weather. There will be no play Monday 27th October due to Labour Day.

Games will run from 4pm every half hour, last game at 6pm (if needed). This year touch rugby will be played at Stanley Bay Park.

All of the registrations are to be completed ON LINE by September 13th. After this date I will receive a database of players registered and teams will begin to be sorted. There is no guarantee of a place in a team if registration is not completed by this date. Please indicate on this registration if you can help by coaching a team.

Register online at

There is $45 to be paid online at time of registration which goes directly to the organisers of the competition. There will be an extra charge of between $5 and $15 per player to the school to cover end of season prizes and possibly uniform hire. I will advise exact details of this when all the registrations are in. $5 of this charge will be for end of season prizes and if we have enough uniforms to hire then there will be a hire charge. If there are not enough uniforms then the uniform to play touch will be a school polo shirt and dark blue or black shorts.

The children will see a promotional video at school. If you’d like to see it the video it can be viewed here Ignore the bit at the end about collecting a note from school. There is no note to be collected from teachers as I have provided the information in this email and saved at least one tree, maybe two.

Summer Hockey

Summer hockey starts the week of 20th of October and finishes early December. Games are played at the North Harbour Hockey turf between 4 and 6pm. Teams are 6 aside. The ability to enter teams depends on numbers registering and a volunteer to coach.

Exact cost will be advised once numbers are known but will be in the region of $40.

On Monday there is a competition for year 3/4 and year 5/6 development (i.e. year 5/6 beginners). Games are played on ¼ turf. Please note it will not be possible to play touch AND hockey on Mondays due to the day/time clash.

On Tuesday there is a year 5/6 advanced grade that is played on ½ turf.

If your child is interested in playing summer hockey please email me at following information by Tuesday 9thSeptember.

Summer netball for years 1 and 2

Netball North Harbour is starting a new programme for year 1 and 2 students.

This is a 4 aside, across the court game with different balls and lower hoops.

It is a 6 week programme with the first week giving coaches some tips on what to do to teach players. The remaining 5 weeks will be a small competition. It will be held on Saturday mornings starting October 18thand runs through November 29th (no play Labour weekend). Play is at Netball North Harbour. This would be a great introduction to netball leading in to Fun Ferns netball for both players and parents to get confidence in coaching.

There is a community information evening for all parents and coaches on Monday, 8th September at 6.30pm in the function room at Netball North Harbour.

If your child is interested please email me the following information by Friday, September 5th:
