Devonport Primary School - Be Worthy - Moving Young Minds to Higher Ground

Waterwise for Year-6 Students

The Waterwise programme teaches year-6 students about confidence in the water: from capsizing and uprighting an Optimist dinghy, swimming confidently with a life vest, and understanding tidal and wind information, to also having the opportunity to learn to sail the Optimist dinghy.

Devonport Primary sessions take place each Friday afternoon at Narrow Neck beach during terms 1 and 4. The students are taught by fully-qualified instructors with additional help from parents.

If you are able to provide transport or assist on any afternoon during our waterwise sessions, please advise one of our Year 6 teachers (Bruce Tilby or Matthew Johnson) at your earliest convenience.
