International Students

Devonport Primary School is a signatory to the Code of Practice and accepts international students. An international student is defined as one who stays in New Zealand on a student visa or permit.

Unless an international student is part of a group visit or cultural exchange, it is a legal requirement that all international students live with one or both parents or a legal guardian during their time of enrolment at our school.  Our group visits are organised through HelloNZ hellonzedu@gmail.com

All students are placed in a class at their year level and encouraged to participate in all activities as a member of the class. Pupils also receive tuition in English and are usually withdrawn from the class for part of the day for this purpose. As we only take 10-15 students at a time, children get more opportunities to practice English in a small friendly class groups.

Please read the Code of Practice summary  English  Korean, other school information and/ or contact the school.

All international students require a study visa and/ or study permit issued by the New Zealand Immigration Service. This permit gives permission to study at Devonport Primary for a specific period of time. As it can take up to 6 weeks to obtain these permits we recommend you enrol early so that we can issue a letter for immigration to begin the permit process.

Please note a permit is required for all international students including those whose parents are on a work permit.

Full details of visas and permit requirements, advice on rights to employment in New Zealand and reporting requirements are available through the immigration service and can be viewed on their website at www.immigration.govt.nz
